SmartField in a documentary

Ann Britt

Recently, documentary film director Jakob Gottschau visited SmartField with his camera.

Jakob Gottschau is currently working on a documentary about rock flour.

In SmartField, we are measuring the effects of rock flour on the nitrogen use efficiency and Jakob was particularly interested in filming the application of rock flour in SmartField experimental site for his documentary.

What is rock flour, and what can it do?
Glacial flour, also called Greenlandic Rock Flour (GRF), is a mineral-rich material formed by the movement of glaciers over millions of years. It contains natural minerals and has the potential to:
• Improve soil structure and nutrient utilisation by crops.
• Reduce the need for synthetic fertilisers.
• Bind CO2 through natural chemical processes in the soil.

We are testing rock flour from Rock Flour Company.
