Teamwork makes the dream work

A saying goes that ‘teamwork makes the dream work’ and in SmartField, we can relate.

To accurately quantify and mitigate emissions from Danish agricultural fields, project partners, authorities and stakeholders collaborate closely. Tackling such an important and complex task requires coordination and dedicated teamwork.

For instance: How can we streamline the data flow and results from the field sites, to the modellers, to the decision makers and farmers? What input is required to establish a robust monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) system based on SmartField? Ultimately, how do we ensure everyone knows who is doing what, when and who needs to be kept in the loop?

Last week, we gathered for the annual SmartField Workshop to share our progress and address these very questions.

Two years into the project, core workflows are established, extensive field data is being collected and process-based models are being optimised for Danish soil and climate conditions. With more than half of the project period still ahead, it was the perfect time to reflect, coordinate and plan the next steps to keep focus on our end-goal to mitigate nitrous oxide emissions with 20-30% before 2030.

Thanks to fruitful discussions, we now have clear action plans at multiple levels. Moving forward, our focus will be on analysing data, sharing results, and actively engaging our stakeholders.
